Inspiring coaches and leaders who coach: One podcast at a time

Empower World runs a regular Podcast which incorporates coaching conversations and also includes interviews with great role models of coaches and leadership: coaches who lead with their heart, mind and soul.

Empower World is on a mission to interview coaching leaders who are making a significant, positive and powerful impact for the people they are serving. We bring inspirational guests and their insights and words of wisdom to plant seeds of coaching leadership, authenticity, determination, resilience, kindness, growth and contribution.

And we also share our own experiences as trainers, mentors and coaches of coaches - as well as coaches of professionals and leaders - with our listeners.

Leslie Shank - ICF PCC Coach wrote about our podcast:

I recommend Empower-World as a source of coaching mastery and wisdom. As I was preparing for taking the ICF certification exam, I sought out learning that went deep on the ICF core competencies.  There were many sources for that learning, but the insights and nuances that Marie and Jeanine provided through their thoughtful examination in the “Empower World Coaching and Leadership Podcast” is world class. I highly recommend these master coaches for their distinctions and clarity, powerful role modelling, and beautiful co-leadership. Thank you for your contributions to our profession, and most importantly, to making this world a better place."

With this awareness, we can support our client to create curiosity, understanding, new choices and therefore change experiences. Ep. 213 - Rules We Make Up Which Can Hold Us Back

Jeanine Bailey and Marie Quigley
Co-founders of Empower World

Some rules guide us positively, while others can hold us back from becoming highly effective coaches. New coaches often create stories about needing to follow a process or use a tool, ask complicated questions, complete numerous coaching courses, or even build a website and have business cards, etcetera, which can prevent them from coaching in a way that truly embodies the core competencies of coaching—the ways of being and doing as a coach—that foster transformation and life-changing experiences. In this podcast, we discuss some of those rules and how to potentially move forward.

Ep. 196 - Paying Attention to Power Dynamics in Coaching... And Get Curious

Jeanine Bailey and Marie Quigley
Co-founders of Empower World

Coaches need to be aware of potential power dynamics in coaching because they can play a key role in shaping the coaching relationship and outcomes. Understanding these dynamics is essential to maintain an effective partnership between the coach and the client. Power imbalances arise due to many factors between the client and coach - including beliefs about self and others. They can impact communication, trust and a client's willingness to be open and engage in the coaching process, or a coach's ability to challenge and express what they are noticing. Coaches must be aware of themselves and the client's behavioural patterns to notice when dynamics come into play to ensure clients are served, heard and stretched in relation to their awareness so they can make empowering decisions.
