How The Skills of Coaching Can Powerfully Impact Your Life!

Jan 22, 2024

Are you curious about the profession of coaching and its potential impact on your life or the lives of others? Whether that be from the perspective of experiencing coaching with a credentialed coach or learning the skills of coaching and leadership.

Coaching is a growing profession and people and organisations are becoming much more aware of the importance of investing in themselves and partnering with a professionally trained coach, particularly in light of the challenges many are experiencing across the globe.

Coaching can support the creation of new perspectives, new opportunities, and new experiences. I can transform people’s lives sustainably and powerfully.

Arslan Arthar, Empower World's Business Manager is the rock and glue who supports us to do what we do at Empower World. He is also a proud father and husband, a professional writer and singer, an entrepreneur, and a leader of teams, amongst many other roles, who completed his coach training in 2020

Listening to and watching Arslan perform beautifully in one of his recent music videos, knowing the work he does for us and others, we felt compelled to ask him what he learned from the coach training or his exposure to coaching through Empower World that might have contributed to his success and fulfilment.

Arslan shared there were a number of key things he learned in the training, some of which are summarised as follows:

1. Letting go of perfectionism

“I used to be a perfectionist," declares Arslan. Arslan suddenly understood it was stopping him from achieving his goals and dreams.

During the coach training, Arslan was able to consciously recognise he was in a comfort zone of trying to be perfect, and through the support of his cohort, he was able to let go of getting things right. This has led to more energy, focus, time and freedom in his work and 'play'.

Arslan also shared he released 98% or 99% of his music after he started working with Empower World.  He said, “It was one of the podcasts that I was listening to and it covered the topic of perfection, and it was such a defining moment in my life."

Arslan realised that the desire to be perfect was stopping him from living his dream and he had to be prepared to take some risks by exposing his art and creativity in music when he felt it was good enough, versus being what he might consider being perfect.

Now, Arslan performs in videos and in front of live audiences and he is prepared to make mistakes with the understanding that these are opportunities to learn and grow as a musician.

2. Professional and personal relationships strengthened

“After attending the coach training my relationship with people both personally and professionally has totally changed," Arslan declares.

He can now put himself in other people’s shoes and also respect that people are doing the best they can based on what they understand and know. Arslan now does his best to look at situations from other people's perspectives, which enables him to relate and understand people in a much better and connected way that supports stronger relationships.

Arslan said the coach training gave him the communication skills to create deeper relations with the people he works with and is now very open to creating pure and sincere relationships in all areas of his life.

3. Effective decision-making (trusting intuition)

Arslan shared how he can now make choices as a heart-centred person, his natural leaning, together with tapping into the power of his mind, without fear of judgment because he now trusts his emotional intelligence. The conflict of choosing to make decisions from either his heart or mind has ‘gone’.

Arslan explained, “In every situation, there is a connection between my heart, my mind, and my body and soul. That whole connection is there now… now I can confidently make decisions knowing that this is true for me, and it makes life so very beautiful when I have that connection.”

Arslan has learned to connect to his intuition to make decisions that resonate with him as well as create a greater understanding of himself. This has led to confidence and a flow in his life that supports the many roles he plays in his life.

What is Arslan's advice?

“I really believe that this beautiful work of coaching we do should be experienced by everybody. I got to experience it in my thirties and I believe that people should have the opportunity much earlier than that because it really changes your life in the most beautiful ways.

“Learning the skills of coaching or experiencing it makes you a better person: you start to understand yourself better, having that whole connection with your mind, body, heart, and soul.”

“The world looks so beautiful when you can see the good in others and you focus on the good and not the weaknesses. And when you're able to understand why somebody is doing something that is not pleasing to you, you're able to understand and look at it from their perspective,” Arslan shares wisely.

Arslan recognises when we're able to see people differently, through the eyes of compassion, love and kindness, it changes the energy within ourselves and allows us to potentially see the good intentions of others.

As Arslan recognises, coaching and/or coach training can have so many powerful outcomes across all areas of our lives. It’s an investment in self, which in turn supports the people around you – both in your personal and professional life.
